Statistical Observation of the In-patients Referred for Ophthalmologic Examinations

Abstract
|
|
|
This paper presents a statistical analysis of the in-patients referred from other departments for ophthalmologic evaluations at the National Medical Center.
Among the total 3,451 in-patients of- the hospital excluding the in-patients of the department of ophthalmology during the six months period from January to June of 1973, 151 patients (4.3%) were examined at the eye department.
They consisted of 69 males (45.6%) and 82 females (54.4%).
The patients were referred us most frequently from the department of internal medicine (57 patients, 37.8%) followed by Ob. & Gy. pediatric and neurologic departments.
Retinal changes among the hypertension patients appeared in 75¡Æa and 52.9% in toxemia of pregnancy.
